DYNAMIC PYRAMID

(Terminology aligned with international “Dynamic Pyramid” standards.)

DYNAMIC PYRAMID

1. Objective of the Game

The objective is to score eight points before the opponent.

2. Balls Used

  • Fifteen white object balls;
  • One colored (preferably yellow) cue ball.

3. Initial Rack

See §§9.1 and 9.2 of the General Rules of Pyramid.

4. Break Shot

The break shot is played with ball-in-hand from baulk, in accordance with §13 of the General Rules of Pyramid.

5. Rules of Play

5.1 Either an object ball or the cue ball may be pocketed.

5.2 If the cue ball is pocketed, the player removes one object ball of their choice, places it on their scoring shelf, and puts the cue ball back into play with ball-in-hand.
On this stroke, only an object ball may be pocketed.

5.3 Calling shots is not required. All balls pocketed on a legal stroke are counted.

5.4 Any stroke (except the break) must comply fully with §20 of the General Rules of Pyramid.

6. Ball-in-Hand

6.1 The cue ball may be placed anywhere on the table, but not touching any object ball.

6.2 If any ball is disturbed during placement, a foul is assessed and the opponent gains ball-in-hand.

6.3 Before the cue ball is struck, it may be adjusted by hand or cue.

6.4 On a ball-in-hand stroke, only an object ball may be pocketed.

6.5 If the cue ball is pocketed on a ball-in-hand stroke, the stroke is illegal and penalized. The opponent then plays with ball-in-hand.

6.6 If both the cue ball and an object ball are pocketed on a ball-in-hand stroke, the object ball is not counted and is respotted.

7. Penalties

7.1 For any foul, the opponent removes one object ball of their choice as a penalty ball.

7.2 If the cue ball is illegally pocketed or jumps off the table, the opponent may either play with ball-in-hand or pass the ball-in-hand shot to the offender.

7.3 If the cue ball remains on the table after a foul, the opponent may play from its position or require the offender to do so.

8. Spotting Balls

All incorrectly pocketed and jumped object balls are respotted according to §25 of the General Rules of Pyramid.

9. Scoring

Each legally pocketed ball counts as one point.
After removal of a penalty ball, one point is added to the opponent’s score.
